Hello folks. Pat (Patrick to some) Spencer here. I live in Calgary Alberta.
I enjoy learning and playing with technology. As I play in my hobbies though, I am amazed to learn how much I did not know.
I grew up in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, where I graduated from STI (currently called Saskatchewan Polytechnic) and also got my pilots license.
These 2 events have shaped my career as well as my hobbies.
For the 2nd trimester of my life, I worked in IT, as a “Systems Engineer” and Project Consultant. As a hobby, I also was heavily involved in Competition Aerobatics (yes, with full size aeroplanes) and was president of the local chapter of Aerobatics Canada for close to a dozen years.
Somewhere along that path, I got my Ham Radio certification (in 1993 actually) and played a bit until hanging up the hobby.
I worked for 33 years for one employer until they closed their doors when the owner retired.
I retired in 2016 and started doing all those things that I had put off until I had time.
I am now the webmaster for 3 clubs, plus a few friends, and also participate in the Training Classes for both Amateur Radio as well as the Maker Community to which I belong.
